We took a big step in our household this weekend –– we threw away our Keurig! In it’s place, we welcomed a Black & Decker 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker to our kitchen. It’s just in time for Fall, too, when both of our coffee intakes increase substantially –– his, by 1x and mine by… 2 or 5.. or.. well… a lot.
I remember the first sip of coffee I had –– I was 9 or so and was standing with my late Grandmother in her kitchen (she was also a coffee addict). She had just brewed herself a cup of joe and offered me a sip –– I was hooked!
Now, Starbucks is my jam, but let’s just say I am not a Pumpkin Spiced Latte kind of girl. Especially in the fall/winter, when I go to S I’m typically pleading for the ‘darkest roast you have’ –– I thoroughly enjoy the taste of coffee, without fru fru.
So, when B and I decided to ditch our Keurig, I was excited! Not having the machine means (1) I can pour myself multiple cups of coffee easily and without having to rebrew;(2) I don’t have to worry about the fact the k-cups aren’t recyclable; (3) I no longer have to hassle with the k-cup reusable filter, which was messy most of the time; and (4) I’m pretty sure my using the reusable k-cup broke the machine so it not longer poked a hole in reg k-cups to filter through –– what a pain.
No more. This morning, I woke up to a fresh pot of coffee brewing in the kitchen by itself. We were so happy when we got our Keurig years ago… but now I know we would never go back. It’s back to the basics for us.
We love trying new brews. We are currently tasting Bird Dog Coffee – GSP Blend, and it is gooood! So, let us know our coffee recommendations!
