At the beginning of 2019, I wrote a post about resolutions I had made for myself. One of those resolutions was to continue reading throughout the year!
Thus far, I think I’ve done a pretty good job! I’ve been crossing a lot of books off my list, and I plan to cross off more! Since moving to Minneapolis, I also started a book club which definitely helps motivate me. I love meeting with the girls to discuss (or not discuss 🙃) the books –– so much fun!
I thought I’d share some recent book favorites of mine in case you were needing to add any to your reading list 🙂
By the way, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Which meeeeeans, if you that if you click on one of the product links in this post and make a purchase, I get some money to support my coffee habit… 🙂 Thanks for your support!

Radium Girls
Lip. Dip. Paint. This is a story about the young women who were exposed to the “wonder” substance of radium during WW1. This book blew my mind –– as I kept reading more and more, I had to continuously remind myself that this really happened and wasn’t made up.

Next Year in Havana
After her grandmother’s death, a Cuban-American woman travels to Havana, where she discovers the roots of her identity and uncovers a family secret hidden since the revolution. I love how this story was written –– it jumps back and forth between perspectives, and is so authentic.

The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen, 83 ¼ Years Old
The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen 83 ¼ Year Old is written as an actual diary of a pensioner in an assisted living home in Amsterdam. The characters were very real –– I loved the dark whit and stubbornness of Hendrik the most. The story was very amusing and completely genuine.
These are just a few of my favorites this past year. I’ll definitely share some others, as I am reading some great books right now!
